1945–2025

Henry Todd gave LSD to Francis Crick in 1967‑68 and was later arrested for drug possession in 1970.

Historical departure

Particulars

In the late 1960s and early 1970s Henry Todd was involved in the Cambridge drug scene. His girlfriend modelled for Odile Crick, the wife of biologist Francis Crick, and was invited to parties thrown by the Cricks; Todd gave LSD to Francis Crick on several occasions in 1967 and 1968.

Todd was arrested in 1970 for possession of LSD, mescaline and cannabis when a van he was travelling in was stopped, but the conviction was overturned because there was no evidence indicating which of the van's seven occupants owned the drugs. He had a prior conviction for possessing cannabis and had been held in Oxford prison from November 1966 to February 1968 after being convicted of theft and obtaining money by false pretences following his arrest for cheque offences in 1966.
