Hayden Panettiere was an American actress who rose to fame as Claire Bennet on the NBC superhero series Heroes (2006-2010), a role that made her a fixture of the science-fiction convention circuit. She later starred as Juliette Barnes on the ABC/CMT musical drama Nashville (2012-2018), earning two Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She also appeared in the Scream slasher franchise as Kirby Reed, beginning with Scream 4 in 2011 and returning for Scream VI in 2023.

Panettiere began acting as a child, appearing in commercials from infancy and landing roles on the soap operas One Life to Live and Guiding Light. She voiced Princess Dot in Pixar's A Bug's Life (1998), which brought her a Grammy nomination, and appeared in films such as Remember the Titans, Ice Princess, and Racing Stripes. She also voiced characters in the Kingdom Hearts video game series and Until Dawn.

Beyond acting, Panettiere was an activist, campaigning against dolphin and whale hunting in Japan and Norway, supporting Washington, D.C. statehood, and advocating for victims of domestic abuse. She was open about her struggles with postpartum depression and addiction, and publicly came out as bisexual in 2026. She died on August 16, 2026, at age 36.
