Hans Traxler was a German painter, cartoonist, illustrator, satirist, and children's book author, born in Bohemia in 1929. After fleeing to West Germany following the war, he settled in Frankfurt, where he studied free painting and lithography at the Städelschule from 1954. He became a leading figure of the Neue Frankfurter Schule, the group of comic artists that emerged from the satirical magazine pardon and later published the magazine Titanic, for which Traxler was a co-founder in 1979 and created its famous moose emblem.
