Gul Hassan Khan had a bunker built at the target end of the Muzaffargarh range, then entered it himself. A direct hit could destroy the bunker, but he ordered each artillery regiment to take turns firing at it with a narrow margin of error.
Retired Colonel EAS Bokhari wrote that the units fired perfectly. Gul Hassan emerged shaken and covered in dust, but safe.
