Particulars
Guang Sir was a Chinese social media influencer who built a following of around 460,000 on Douyin, China's answer to TikTok. From the age of 14 he took on a string of jobs before later turning to content creation, with his videos focusing on everyday life, cooking, car repairs, and helping people and animals. His online presence grew steadily as he documented his efforts to overcome years of family financial hardship, working long hours and keeping his own living costs extremely low to clear the debt.
On July 29, 2026, he announced that he had finally paid off roughly £337,000 (three million yuan) in family debt, appearing ready to start a new chapter. Just days before his death he had also bought an Audi for around £25,000 in cash. On August 15, 2026, he was involved in a motorcycle collision at an intersection and died from his injuries in the early hours of the following morning. His death, coming just 17 days after his debt-free announcement, sparked an outpouring of grief among his followers.
