Particulars

Gonzalo González was a Spanish bullfighting subaltern who devoted his entire life to tauromaquia. He began as a novillero with horses before switching to the silver as a subaltern, going on to serve in the cuadrillas of matadores such as Manuel Caballero, Juan Bautista, Serafín Marín, Miguel Tendero and Filiberto, earning the respect of fellow professionals and aficionados for his professionalism and knowledge of the craft. In 2018 he joined the teaching staff of the Escuela Taurina de Albacete, one of the most active bullfighting schools in Castilla-La Mancha, working alongside its director Sergio Martínez to pass on his experience to dozens of young aspiring bullfighters, including his own son, the novillero Alejandro González. He died suddenly in 2026 at the Pedro Tito estate in Jaén during a tentadero, collapsing in the tienta ring after feeling unwell while accompanying his son. His death prompted an outpouring of condolences from professionals, students and aficionados of the Albacete bullfighting world, which lost one of its most committed figures in passing on the tauromaquia legacy.
