Particulars

Georgi Nemsadze was a Georgian professional footballer who earned 69 international caps between 1992 and 2004, frequently captaining the national team alongside icons such as Kakha Kaladze and Shota Arveladze. He began and ended his playing career with Dinamo Tbilisi, and also played for Hamburg, Trabzonspor, Grasshoppers and Reggiana.

Signed by Dundee in 2000, he became a revered figure at Dens Park during the Ivano Bonetti era, captaining a star-studded side that included Claudio Caniggia and Fabrizio Ravanelli. He made 96 competitive appearances across three years and led the club to its first Scottish Cup final in four decades in 2003, scoring a dramatic semi-final winner against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden. His chipped goal against Dundee United at Tannadice remains one of the most iconic Dundee Derby moments of the modern era.

He was inducted into the Dundee FC Hall of Fame in 2010 and later served Dinamo Tbilisi as sporting director and head coach. He died at the age of 54 after reportedly suffering a fatal heart attack in Tbilisi.
