Particulars

Gabriel Augusto da Silva Arantes was a Brazilian visual artist and jiu-jitsu instructor from Goiás. Before dedicating himself to painting, he worked as a tattoo artist and produced ink drawings using techniques such as hatching and stippling, often depicting snakes and skulls.

As a painter, he worked in oil, addressing psychological, political, and dark themes, and his work gained international recognition. He was associated with the Feira de Arte Goiás (Fargo) gallery, which mourned his death as the loss of a powerful voice in contemporary art and a lasting legacy in Goiás art.

Alongside his artistic career, Gabriel was an athlete and professor of jiu-jitsu. He died suddenly at age 35 in September 2026 after feeling unwell during a class and suffering a sudden illness on his way home.
