Particulars

François Saldanha was born in 1959 and pursued a career as an agronomist, later becoming a university professor in Ceará. He entered politics as a member of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB) and was elected to the municipal council of Quixeramobim. During his tenure, he was chosen twice to preside over the council, overseeing local legislation and community projects.

In September 2026, Saldanha was involved in a traffic collision on the CE-040 highway that also involved two cars and a motorcycle. The accident caused a spill of green paint from a tanker, covering a driver in paint. Saldanha was arrested for suspected intoxication and was hospitalized in Fortaleza after being transferred from a regional hospital in Quixeramobim. He died on 15 September 2026, five days after the crash.

His death prompted an official three‑day period of mourning in Quixeramobim, and the city council cancelled its session in respect of the former president. Saldanha is remembered for his contributions to local governance and his work in agricultural education.
