Francesco Gesualdi was an Italian executive and cultural manager who spent decades at the heart of Italy's public film and cultural institutions. Between 1999 and 2003 he served as director general of Cinecittà holding spa, and he was a longstanding reference figure at Istituto Luce, Italy's historic state film institute. He also held the role of secretary general of the Lazio region, overseeing cultural administration at the regional level. In the Marche region he directed the Fondazione Marche Cultura and headed the Marche Film Commission, promoting local film production and cultural projects. He left his post as director of Fondazione Marche Cultura more than a year before his death for serious health reasons. His death at 69 was announced by his son Giacomo in a digital discussion space for Italian cinema that Gesualdi himself had promoted.
