Eugene Lim (45) was a prominent running influencer and endurance athlete based in Singapore, known for his marathon performances and active presence on social media where he motivated followers with training tips and personal stories.

Lim’s athletic background also included rugby and Muay Thai, and he first noticed abnormal dark urine while completing a marathon in his apartment building’s parking lot during the COVID‑19 pandemic. After years of intermittent symptoms, he was diagnosed in 2024 with stage 4 urothelial bladder cancer that had spread to his neck and lungs.

Despite the diagnosis, Lim continued to compete in long‑distance events and used his platform to raise awareness about cancer and the importance of perseverance. He married his longtime partner Sofie Chandra on April 7, 2026, just three days before his death on April 10, 2026.

Lim’s openness about his illness and his dedication to running left a lasting impact on the fitness community, where he is remembered as a resilient figure who ran “because he loved it,” even in the face of terminal disease.
