Departures of note

Ettore Luiz França Zuim was a Brazilian actor, voice actor, and dubbing director born in Rio de Janeiro. He began acting in January 1982 and started dubbing at Herbert Richers in 1986, building a career that spanned more than four decades. He voiced dozens of characters and actors, most notably Batman (Christian Bale) in the Dark Knight trilogy, Hercules in the 1997 animated film, Prince Charming in Shrek 2, and the actor Owen Wilson in his Brazilian dubs.

Zuim worked primarily in Rio de Janeiro before moving to São Paulo in 2015, where he continued dubbing and teaching dubbing courses. He also directed dubbing for productions such as the animated series Static Shock. In 2023 he faced a serious health scare involving peripheral arterial disease that threatened amputation of his foot, which prompted a public mobilization of fellow voice actors and fans to help him obtain surgery.

He died on 4 September 2026 in São Paulo at age 66, while hospitalized for esophageal cancer. The Brazilian Association of Voice Actors paid tribute to him, describing him as brilliant and talented with a unique voice. He was survived by a son.
