Particulars

Eliana Moreno was a television news journalist based in Los Angeles who specialized in aerial reporting. Born in Orange County, southern California, she earned a degree in television journalism and social sciences from Chapman University in 2010. That same year she joined the helicopter news crew at Angel City Air, beginning years of airborne coverage for various stations in the region.

Moreno reported for both NBC and Telemundo, providing bilingual coverage that included reports in Spanish. She was widely known by her nickname "Eli in the heli," a playful reference to her on-air work from the helicopter. On her social media she regularly shared photos and videos from the cockpit, once describing her job as "the best job in the world."

On September 15, 2026, Moreno was aboard a news helicopter covering a traffic collision involving a Los Angeles bus and a car in Chatsworth when the aircraft crashed into a parking lot near a storage facility. She and pilot George Marciniw, also an NBC employee, died in the crash, along with a person on the ground. Both NBC4 and Telemundo 52 mourned the loss of the two professionals.
