Particulars

Dominique Alderweireld, known as "Dodo la Saumure", was a French pimp and brothel owner who became a public figure through the Carlton de Lille affair involving Dominique Strauss-Kahn. Born in Annœullin in the Nord department, he was raised by Jesuits and admitted to a difficult childhood and some burglaries in his youth.

He began his career as a real estate agent for Félix Houphouët-Boigny before running a network of brothels in Belgium, operating under the guise of massage parlors and bars. At their peak in 2011 he ran sixteen establishments across towns including Tournai, Froyennes, Warneton, and Mouscron.

In 2011 he was detained and later convicted of running houses of prostitution and procuring, receiving a five-year suspended sentence and confiscation of 2.77 million euros in proceeds. He was also indicted in the Carlton de Lille affair, where he supplied prostitutes for parties attended by Dominique Strauss-Kahn and other notables.

He died of heart failure in Tournai, Belgium, at the age of 77.
