Derran "Derry" Brownson was a founding member and keyboardist/sampler of the English alternative rock band EMF, formed in Cinderford, Gloucestershire in 1989. The band rose to prominence at the start of the 1990s, with their debut single "Unbelievable" reaching number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number three in the UK, while their debut album Schubert Dip reached number three on the UK Albums Chart.

Brownson contributed keyboards and samples to the band's early albums, including Schubert Dip and Stigma, and was part of the group through its various reunions over the decades. After EMF's initial run, he formed the alternative rock trio LK. The band released new material in 2022 and 2024, and were honoured with a blue plaque in their hometown of Cinderford in May 2025.

In July 2025, Brownson spoke publicly about living with a cancerous brain tumour and undergoing surgery to remove part of it. He continued to perform with his bandmates, playing his final show in Frome in May 2026, before dying on 13 August 2026 at the age of 55.
