Particulars

Dennis Haskins was an American actor born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on November 18, 1950. He attended Notre Dame High School and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where he played basketball, before beginning an acting career that included guest roles on series such as The Dukes of Hazzard and Magnum, P.I. He first took on the role of Principal Richard Belding in the Disney Channel series Good Morning, Miss Bliss, then carried the character into the NBC teen sitcom Saved by the Bell, where he was the only adult member of the regular cast. His catchphrase "Hey, hey, hey, what is going on here?" became a pop-culture staple. He reprised Mr. Belding in the franchise's TV movies and in Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which ran from 1993 to 2000 and made him the only constant cast member across all seven seasons. Beyond the franchise, Haskins appeared in films including Max Keeble's Big Move and A Million Ways to Die in the West, and in shows such as Mad Men, How I Met Your Mother, and Victorious. He also released a karaoke album and made cameos in music videos. In 2000 he received the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga's Most Distinguished Alumni award. He died on September 27, 2026, at the age of 75.
