David Kendall was born on October 4, 1957, and graduated from Wesleyan University in 1979 with majors in film studies and government. He began his career in television, quickly becoming a prolific director, writer, and producer.

Kendall is best remembered for his long tenure on the sitcom Boy Meets World, where he served as executive producer from its second season through the series finale, directed numerous episodes, and wrote an episode in 1994. His work also spanned many other successful series, including Growing Pains, Hannah Montana, Zoey 101, iCarly, Victorious, and Big Time Rush, establishing him as a key figure in shaping teen and family programming.

Beyond television, Kendall directed the 2005 film Dirty Deeds and co-wrote screenplays such as The New Guy and Revenge of the Bridesmaids. He later mentored younger creators, notably supporting the Pod Meets World podcast and its hosts, fostering the next generation of talent.

David Kendall passed away on May 2, 2026, at the age of 68. His death was mourned by cast members, colleagues, and fans who remembered his significant contributions to television and his lasting personal impact on those who worked with him.
