Daveigh Elizabeth Chase was born on July 24, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and was raised in Albany, Oregon. She began acting as a child, appearing in minor television roles before landing her first notable film part.

She gained early recognition as Samantha Darko in Donnie Darko (2001) and achieved a breakthrough when she voiced Lilo Pelekai in Disney's Lilo & Stitch (2002), earning an Annie Award.
