David Thomas Mason (10 May 1946 – 19 April 2026) was an English singer‑songwriter and guitarist from Worcester who rose to prominence in 1967 as a founding member of the rock band Traffic.
With Traffic he wrote and sang lead on songs such as “Hole in My Shoe” and the classic “Feelin’ Alright?”, and the group was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, recognizing his contributions.
After leaving Traffic he launched a solo career, scoring U.S. hits with “Only You Know and I Know” and the 1977 adult‑contemporary staple “We Just Disagree.” He also worked as a session musician with artists including George Harrison, Jimi Hendrix, the Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Michael Jackson.
In 2004 Mason co‑founded an electric guitar company with designer Ravi Sawhney. He continued performing and recording into his later years. Mason died on 19 April 2026 at his home in Gardnerville, Nevada, aged 79.
