Cordula Trantow was a German actress, director and theatre intendant born in Berlin, the daughter of film composer Herbert Trantow. She trained in acting and classical ballet before making her mark in German film and theatre, appearing at the state theatres of Munich and Stuttgart and at the Ruhr Festival.

She achieved her breakthrough in 1959 as Franziska in Bernhard Wicki's acclaimed anti-war film "Die Brücke", winning the German Film Award (Filmband in Gold) as best young actress. She went on to work in international productions, including the war film "Jenseits des Rheins" opposite Charles Aznavour and the Hollywood biography "Hitler" (1962), in which her portrayal of Geli Raubal earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Most Promising Newcomer.

Trantow later devoted herself primarily to the theatre, appearing in major productions of the 1970s and 1980s, including Rudolf Noelte's Kafka adaptation "Das Schloss" (1968), and also worked as a theatre director and intendant, notably of the Weilheimer Theatersommer. She was also a distinctive voice actress, dubbing stars such as Ali MacGraw, Claude Jade and Dominique Sanda. She received the Federal Cross of Merit in 2000.
