Claude Guillemot helped found Ubisoft in 1986 alongside his four brothers, growing the company from a small French distributor into one of the world’s leading video‑game publishers. Under his guidance, Ubisoft launched iconic franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s series, shaping modern interactive entertainment. Beyond his business achievements, Guillemot was known for his passion for aviation and his commitment to fostering creative talent within the company. He died on Friday evening in a plane crash near La Baule, western France, while piloting a Cessna 421 twin‑engine aircraft.
