Brian August Potter was a British-born American pop music songwriter and record producer renowned for crafting iconic songs during the 1970s. Born in Billericay, Essex, England, in 1939, Potter began his music career in London in the 1960s. He later moved to the United States, where he formed a prolific songwriting and production partnership with Dennis Lambert. Together, they penned and produced hits for major artists such as the Four Tops, Glen Campbell, The Righteous Brothers, Santana, and Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds. Among their most notable works are “One Tin Soldier,” recorded by The Original Caste and Coven, and “Ain’t No Woman (Like the One I’ve Got),” a million-selling hit for the Four Tops.
