Departures of note

Bobby Hunt was a versatile football standout who played both quarterback and safety at Auburn University under coach Ralph "Shug" Jordan. His talent was so notable that legendary Alabama coach Paul "Bear" Bryant described him as "just a great football player."

Drafted by the Dallas Texans in the 11th round of the 1962 American Football League draft, Hunt transitioned to safety in the professional ranks. He earned first-team All-AFL honors as a rookie with eight interceptions and later led the AFL with 10 interceptions in the season the Chiefs reached Super Bowl I.

Hunt appeared in 112 professional games over his career, finishing with 42 interceptions. He concluded his playing days with the Cincinnati Bengals before moving into coaching as an assistant with the Buffalo Bills. He was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
