Particulars
Bob Buziak was an American music industry executive who held senior roles at Capitol and Arista before becoming president of RCA Records in 1986. He is best remembered for reviving RCA's fortunes during the 1980s, drastically trimming the label's roster and rebuilding it around developing new artists, including acts signed through distribution deals with Beggars Banquet and Jive Records. Under his leadership RCA delivered hit albums by Bruce Hornsby and the Range, the Eurythmics, Love and Rockets and Rick Astley, and the label posted its most profitable year in history by the end of fiscal 1988, helped by the blockbuster Dirty Dancing soundtrack. He later served as president of Sony's TriStar Music Group. Earlier in his career he worked as an artist manager at Frontline Management alongside Irving Azoff. Buziak died on October 19, 2026, at the age of 83.
