Particulars
Annunziata Miolli, known as Nunni, was an Italian feminist and a leading figure of the women's movement in Rome. In the 1970s she founded the feminist collective of housewives, part of the wave of activism that reshaped Italian society during those years. She was speaking on the microphones of Radio Città Futura, the voice of the left and the student movement, on 9 January 1979 when a commando of the Nuclei Armati Rivoluzionari hurled Molotov cocktails at the station, wounding her and four other women. Then 53, she suffered severe burns but survived, and after months of convalescence continued to devote herself to the community. In April 2011 President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi awarded her the gold medal as a victim of terrorism for her ideas and moral commitment. In her later years she returned to bear witness to the attack and to the struggles for women's rights, appearing in Monica Repetto's documentary 'Le nostre ferite' and in the book 'Appassionate' by Maria Novella De Luca and Simonetta Fiori, one of ten protagonists of those battles for democracy. She died at her home in Spoleto at the age of one hundred.
