Historical departure

Particulars

Anne Bourdon, daughter of Jean Bourdon and Jacqueline Potel, was born in Quebec City. She entered the Ursulines of Quebec as a novice at age 14, took vows two years later under the name Anne de Sainte‑Agnès, and learned native languages from Marie of the Incarnation.

She served as depositary, chapter secretary, assistant superior and mistress of novices. After the community’s archives burned in 1686, she reconstructed them from memory, and in June 1700 she was elected superior of the congregation.
