Angela Daphne Anne Pleasence was born on 17 September 1941 in Chapeltown, Sheffield, to actors Miriam Walker and Donald Pleasence, the latter famed for portraying the villain Blofeld in the James Bond film You Only Live Twice. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1965, and made her stage debut as Titania in 1964.
Pleasence built a diverse career across film, television and theatre. She appeared in horror films such as From Beyond the Grave and Symptoms, and had notable television credits including The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Doctor Who, and Happy Valley. Her film work ranged from early roles like Hitler: The Last Ten Days to later appearances in Gangs of New York and The Gigolos.
