Particulars

André Guy was a French professional footballer who played as a forward. Born in Bourg-en-Bresse, he came through the youth ranks in the Lyon region before joining FC Sochaux, where he saw little first-team action. He moved to AS Saint-Étienne in 1962 and quickly became a regular starter, helping the club win the French second division title in 1963 and the French championship in 1964, scoring 28 goals in his first top-flight season. After a transfer to Lille OSC, where he scored 42 league goals over two seasons, he returned to Lyon in 1967. With Olympique Lyonnais he was the top scorer of the French championship in 1969 with 25 goals, then a club record. He finished his career at Stade Rennais, scoring the winning penalty in the 1971 Coupe de France final against Lyon. Between 1964 and 1968 he earned eight caps for the France national team, scoring two goals.
