Historical departure

Particulars

In 1784 Amalie Zephyrine arrived in Sigmaringen and described life in the small Danube town as unbearably restrictive.

On 20 February 1785 she gave birth to her second son, Karl Anton Frederick Meinrad Fidelis, and ten weeks later she fled, disguised as a man, from Sigmaringen to Kirn with her brother Frederick III and his wife Johanna Franziska, leaving the infant behind.
