Born on 4 June 1977 in Salzburg, Austria, Alexander Manninger began his football journey in the youth ranks of SV Salzburg before making his senior debut in 1995. He quickly gained experience on loan at Vorwärts Steyr and later at Grazer AK, where his performances earned him a move to England.
Manninger joined Arsenal in 1997 and became a reliable understudy to David Seaman. He recorded six consecutive clean‑sheet league matches in 1998, helped the club secure the Premier League title that season, and contributed to Arsenal’s FA Cup triumph, earning a special medal despite limited appearances.
