Alan Osmond, a member of the Osmond family boy band, has died at 76.
Particulars
Alan Ralph Osmond was born on June 22, 1949, in Ogden, Utah, the oldest of the seven singing Osmond siblings. He began performing with his brothers as a barbershop quartet in 1958 and later appeared on The Andy Williams Show, helping launch the family’s national fame.
Throughout the 1970s, Osmond served as the creative leader of The Osmonds, playing piano and guitar, co‑writing and co‑producing many of their hits, and arranging choreography, though he rarely sang lead. He co‑founded the annual Stadium of Fire celebration in 1980 and released his autobiography, One Way Ticket, in 2024.
Diagnosed with progressive multiple sclerosis in 1987, Osmond continued to write music and speak publicly about the disease, receiving the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Dorothy Corwin Spirit of Life Award in 2000. He remained active in charitable work until his death on April 20, 2026, after a long battle with the illness.
