Agnes Maclehose
1759–1841Agnes Maclehose married in Glasgow on 1 July 1776 after a courtship involving a coach journey arranged by James Maclehose.

James Maclehose courted Agnes Maclehose but was forbidden by her father to enter the Craig family home. He arranged to travel with her on a Glasgow‑to‑Edinburgh coach by purchasing all other seats, making him the only other occupant.
Despite objections from her father and her first cousin William Craig, later Lord Craig, Agnes Maclehose married in Glasgow at the age of eighteen on 1 July 1776.
